Entry points Entry pointsMoving towards 21st century learning does not mean rejecting everything that schools do, but it does mean a change of focus. It means we place more importance on students forming positive learning identities, building learning power and developing the competencies they need to participate successfully in 21st century society. Subject knowledge remains important, but the emphasis changes from getting knowledge to using knowledge. For example, the area of literacy widens to encompass critical literacy. This section explores the 21st century shift in emphasis in what we teach at school.
